break-in

Last Friday:

It was a good day, you know why?  Because I found free food!  Living off campus, I enjoy not having to use my precious resources that are stored in the fridge.

I was invited to attend my old ward's "sports night".   I'm not a stellar volleyball player, but I figured it would be a good opportunity to see my friends from my old ward and, oh yeah, eat.  The activity started at 9ish.  I planned to get there around 9:15 but on my way to the old gym I was called to by some large group of people.

Upon entering the old gym I recognized a lot of people, but only a few of them from the 8th ward.
Come to find out, as about 12 of us were sitting on the wall, only 2 of those 12 were actually currently in the 8th ward.  I'm pretty sure it's because of the pizza that came a few minuets later.

I played and then I left to find my friends and drag them back.  We all played, some better than others.  At one point I jammed my right thumb.

The activity ends around 11:15.  My friend Ming, comes up to me and she was having a hard day so we decided to go to foodland to cheer her up with some....food.

We had just reached the edge of campus when we got caught in the rain.  We took refuge under a mango tree until it let up a bit and then we continued on our path to foodland.  We were fortunate enough to a) find more people we know and love at foodland and b) to make it there before another swell of heavy rain hit.  Fast Forward through some watermelon, lemonade and M&Ms- we were done.  Ming refused to let me walk her home.
She insists that I live in the sketchy-er part of town.  She's right.  I do.
So Ming and Harmony walked with me.
We walked along the highway, the same highway in the previous post, and then....it started to rain again.  Ming, the silly thing, had her laptop in her backpack, so we did need to stop.  We, again, took refuge under a tree.  We were there for probably 15 minuets before the rain let up a bit.
Harmony and Ming did not walk me all the way to my house.  We parted at the round-about between my street and the school street and the cemetery street.

This was a good thing.

Guess what guys?!?!  I don't have the key to unlock the deadbolt.  We aren't supposed to use it, but I've definitely been dead-bolt-ed out of the house a few times.  It was 12:30.  Nobody was awake.  I didn't have my phone.  I didn't have anybody's number either, so that wouldn't have made a difference.

Earlier that day, I had met Evita's family while they were putting um a tarp/canopy thing for their yardsale the next day.  It was set up in the driveway.

The renters live upstairs.  I was stuck outside...so I grabbed the trashcan and stood on it to get me to a spot where I could use the canopy to climb onto the roof.
Yup- I climbed onto the roof in the rain.
I had to wait a bit because there were people driving down the street and I didn't want them to call the police "There's a girl breaking into a house!!!" when it's just me and I live there.

Once I was in, I went downstairs, undid the deadbolt and put the trashcan back on the street.

Now my roommate thinks I'm tough.
