say something silly

On my way to the old gym one night, I came across a large group of people.
They were surrounding 2 trees.  Between these trees there was a taught belt and people took turns walking across it, some more effectively than others.  (apparently this is a popular activity in Colorado).  One shortish Polynesian guy called out:
"Hi!  What is your name??"
"Hi! I'm Aria."  (friendliness is a requirement here)
then a girl in the group looked over and said:  "Hey do you play the oboe?"
"Well yes, I do!"
"Oh good," she said, "I thought I recognized your face."
and what did I say?  something kinda stupid.  ready for it?  "Yup, I like my face, it's a good one."
Everyone froze and processed that for a moment and then we all had a bit of a laugh.  I felt really stupid at the moment, but I laughed it off.  We went around and introduced ourselves and talked a bit.  But after a while I was late to an activity, so I left them to their tight rope walking fun.
