Oh we're going, to the hukilauI
Huki, the huki, the hukilau
Everybody loves the hukilau
Where the laulau is the kaukau at the big luau
Oh we throw our nets out into the sea
And all the ama-ama come a-swimmin' to me
Oh we're going to the hukilau,
huki huki huki, hukilau
What a beautiful day for fishin',
The old Hawaiian way,
And the hukilau net we're swishin',
Down at old Laie bay.
Huki, the huki, the hukilau
Everybody loves the hukilau
Where the laulau is the kaukau at the big luau
Oh we throw our nets out into the sea
And all the ama-ama come a-swimmin' to me
Oh we're going to the hukilau,
huki huki huki, hukilau
What a beautiful day for fishin',
The old Hawaiian way,
And the hukilau net we're swishin',
Down at old Laie bay.
You know this song. It is the stereotypical HAWAII song. Did you know it is about the place I live?
Not the point.
Do you know what laulau is?
I didn't. But some girl came by the house and was selling it as a fundraiser. I was to come with my ticket to the house down the street between 10am-2pm on Friday to pick up my laulau.
laulau- banana leaves and pork |
Have you ever wondered why islanders are generally rather large people? |
It is because they do not take the fat off of their meat. They eat it. They eat it ALL. All of that. yeah, that's fat. |
It was good....I'm not a fan of eating fat so I took that part out, then it was good. WHY DID THEY DO THIS RIGHT AFTER THANKSGIVING?!??!?!? I didn't need more food. Now I have some more laulau in my fridge. If any of you want to come visit me, I'll feed you. Curry. ;-)
