durok

Cali, Abby and I had planned to go surfing with our old home teachers Mike and Tim.  Cali couldn't get the boards and these are the adventures that ensued.
I woke up at 4:30 in the morning because I was cold.  I don't know why it is so cold here, but I'm sleeping with a blanket and I haven't done that here since....last winter semester.  Oh.  I guess that makes sense.   But still- I had to put on sweats.

I woke up early...because that's just what I do now...and laid in bed trying to find a way to salvage my day.  I decided to go to breakfast at Hukilau Cafe.  I've lived across the street from it for months now and I've never been.  I called Abby and we had a mini breakfast date. 'Mini' refers to the date, not the meal.  Have no doubt, there are leftovers.

Right after I paid for breakfast Cami txts me and invites me to go to Waimea almost immediately.  Its a good thing I was already in my suit.
Cami's house....from my back door.

Cami lives behind me....or I guess I live behind her....it's all how you look at it.
Cami the driver and Seth the DJ

So we went.  Cami's car is low on coolant and the temperature gauge is springing from one extreme to the other, but we got there.
front- Taylor, Becky, Seth
back- Emma, Emily, Maggie, Cami
We played in the waves, attempted to body surf, talked story with Emma, played soccer and Frisbee---lots of fun and lots of sun.
Matthew, Aaron, Rommel
After the beach we went to the foodland by shark's cove and had Shoyu Ahi Poke.  (show-you ah-he po-kay)  Shoyu is a sauce, Ahi is a type of fish, Poke means it's raw.  Raw fish.  It's good, but you can take my word for it if you want to.

Luna in the kitchen

We got back around 3.  I took a smallish nap and was just about to start some History homework when Cami called and reprimanded me for not getting her txts.  Ooops.  "Aria, what are you doing? Luna is cooking dinner for us and I need you to come over and eat."  I respond better to phrases like "Aria, I need you" than "Aria, do you want to?".  I would've felt a little odd coming uninvited or if I wasn't 'needed'.  So I did.  Luna cooked us food and it was delicious.  She refused to let us help her, but she did use my potato peeler.  HA!  I contributed!

Seth finally came over so we could eat
waiting for Seth
and when we had food left over we invited Matthew and Aaron who arrived right after I came back from running to foodland to get....

Ted's Bakery Pie.

Then we played Durok.  "Durok" is the phonetic spelling of   придурок.  This is Russian for moron.  It's a card game, we play it a lot.  After teaching the new kids how to play and going a few rounds we decided to turn it into "Darwinian Durok".  Survival of the fittest, first one out doesn't play the next round.
in order, Seth- out 1st round, Taylor- out 2nd round,
Luna- out 3rd round

Aaron, Cami- out 4th round, Matthew
I totally made it to the final 3.  No big deal.   You can't really play with only 2 people, so we split the deck and highest card won.  Congratulations Matthew, Darwin Durok Champ.

Aaron and Matthew invited us to their house and we watched Inception in complete silence because Aaron has a thing about people talking during movies.   You know how that movie ends?  Well, I've decided that life can be a dream....as in dream like, cloud nine, fairytale...etc etc.  Inception could totally end in reality.  That or the Grandfather set up the whole thing so that it would stop torturing his grand-kids.

In terms of food, this was a spectacular day.  Coconut pancakes, Shoyu Ahi Poke, Chinese meat and potatoes and rice, and Ted's pie.  This is rare guys.

We are going to do another Darwin Durok game tonight....should be fun an adventure.
