I swam with dolphins.
...and the day isn't over yet.
get ready for a picture overload.....when I have time to update this post.
Happy Memorial Day! Please, in your bbq-ing, swimming, vacation day- remember that MILLIONS of soldiers have died in service of the whole. Take a moment. Sing something patriotic. Forget that you don't always like the government. Find some way to say 'Thank you'.
Check back on this post soon!
Much later- Here is the story.
We went to Electric Beach.
On the way out (we're told it's about a mile) we saw turtles and squids and all kins of cool creatures.
Turning on the GoPro
We swam to chase dolphins
Still swimming
I promise that I have not Photoshopped any of these photos
Some of the kids swam out on boogie boards, we had 2 surf boards with us, others swam with fins.
This was my view for a lot of the swim
I have so many pictures of my hands. So. Many.
Again- I promise I didn't Photoshop at all.
Also- I have great form, still. Score.
Looking for dolphins
sighting
Off to see the dolphins......another dolphin chase
After about an hour, it was brought to our attention that we were getting swept out by the current. There were three Asian girls with us who were not very good swimmers. (they were bad swimmers) We decided that the dolphins had left and began to swim to shore. But the Asians were further out than the rest of the group. Ben and I looked at eachother- he went back to get Asami on her boogie board.
After I looked ahead of me and realized that I was the closest swimmer, I went back after these two.
'We feel so bad, you can go on ahead, we'll catch up.' Haha- no. You won't. I'm wearing fins and I feel like we aren't moving. I was towing these guys for about half an hour before we saw more dolphins and took a break. Did we move that far inland? Not that I could tell, but when Masami let go of the board to swim on her own (for like 5 seconds) she had to fight a little to catch back up. That made me feel a bit better.
I have so many of these. It took us an eternity to catch up to the rest of the group.
cool picture
Shuffled off one of the girls to a surfboard and chased dolphins that appeared in our path. :)
I am Aria- Dolphin Chaser
Dark shadows? No, those are dolphins. Yeah.
But, we still were far from shore, so I towed one girl back. The other was on a surfboard- I'm assuming since she was on the beach when we all got there.
Home stretch
and this is when we realized that the GoPro was taking pictures every few seconds and not when I pressed the capture button. That is why I have 355 pictures- most of them are of my arm/the shoreline or me towing kids back.
Playing in a tiny beach
group
Stunting Pari.
Stunting Lace.
After this we went and saw the Queen Ann's Revenge (blackbeard's ship on Pirates of the Carribean 4).
Went to Wendy's
Then we went to White Plains- a very local beach outside Mililani. Slept, surfed, got sunburned
Drove home. Crazy traffic.
Started to study. Wrote the beginning of this post.
Went with Ben and Martin to Kahuku HS fundraiser carnival- supporting teen suicide prevention. About 2 years ago the captain of the Football team committed suicide- I remember that day, you could feel sadness everywhere. He would have graduated this year, so....yeah.
Went to a BBQ at the Boat House.
Forgot, but then remembered and went Visiting Teaching.
Walked up to the Johnson's house for the ward FHE/food/Johnson farewell.
Phew.
do you know why he committed suicide
ReplyDeleteThere was family stuff going on and he felt responsible for his team getting disqualified from state.
DeleteClearly you were not just "Aria Een, Dolphin Chaser" but "Aria Een, Lifeguard Extraordinaire equipped with Turbo-Tow". Looks like great fun. I'm glad the GoPro is catching some shots . . . although the pictures of dolphins are a bit iffy . . .
