But one day,
though she wished it would not be this way,
she knew it was good.
She hoped she was right-
more for them than for herself
because (if we're honest) there is more pain coming her way.
"The worst," she thought to herself, "is over.
The truth is out, and now I can step away smiling,
knowing that we'll be friends still."
Understanding more about herself as she watched them walk away;
Focusing,
for the first time in weeks,
on the work that had built up in her mental absence.
Productivity increasing exponentially.
Freedom in finally being honest with him.
Relief in realizing he cared enough to be concerned,
and nothing more.
Free of the mental weight that had tugged at her conscious thought.
She was, once again, alright on her own.
In this she found some heartache, but mostly peace.
Yes,
mostly peace.
i love you.
